Skip to content- Players must be seated at least 15 minutes before play is scheduled to commence so the Director can set up the movement for the session. Late arrivals will be excluded from play.
- Make sure your cell phone is off during the session. In exceptional circumstances, cell phones may be on during session time and the Director must be informed.
- Courtesy among all players is essential.
- Do not detach a card from your hand before it is your turn to play or lead.
- Do not touch the cards of another player at any time.
- When you are dummy, do not touch the cards unless instructed to do so by declarer, and do not in any way indicate which card you think should be played.
- Do not leave the table while dummy, unless absolutely necessary.
- Do not mix the cards before the result has been agreed.
- Avoid providing unauthorised information by word or gesture, including undue haste or delay in bidding or playing a card; showing approval or disapproval of partner’s bid or play; volunteering information unless in response to a question.
- Summon the Director courteously, “Director, please”, as soon as attention has been drawn to an irregularity.
- The player responsible for calling the Director must be allowed to state the facts without interruption.
- Slow play is unfair to everyone and will attract penalties if the Director decides it could have been avoided. After the Director calls the move to the next table, move promptly. Do not start a post-mortem discussion about the last board.
- Appeals: notify the Director that an appeal is to be lodged and ask for an official appeal form. This must be completed by all parties involved no later than 30 minutes from the end of play.
