Tuition is based on the Acol bidding system, the most widely used system in New Zealand.

We are fortunate to have Douglas Russell, a member of our club, as our Course Tutor – he is one of the country’s highest ranking bridge players and has represented New Zealand.  Course attendees often comment on how much they learn from Douglas and appreciate his teaching approach.

Beginner’s Course 2026 – Tuesday evenings  

Dates: 3 March – 19 May inclusive   7.15pm to 9.15pm

A popular, informative course over 12 weeks – includes comprehensive notes, quizzes, and practice hands.

Cost: $120

Supervised Play 2026 – Tuesday evenings (for NSBC members only) 

An 8-week course to help you reinforce your knowledge and master important bidding and play techniques.

Dates: 26 May to 14 July   7:15pm to 9:15pm 

Cost: $52 

Improver’s Course 2026 – Tuesday evenings 

Dates: 21 July – 22 September inclusive  7.15pm to 9.15pm

An informative course over 10 weeks for those who did the beginners’ course and have some playing experience since. Materials include comprehensive notes, quizzes, and practice hands.

Cost: $100
